BSECA’s Code of Ethics
1. Purpose of the Code of Ethics
This Code of Ethics sets out the principles and standards of conduct expected of all individuals and organisations associated with BSECA.
The Code supports professional integrity, trust, and accountability across all evaluation, auditing, and accreditation-related activities.
2. Scope
This Code applies to:
• BSECA governance members
• Approved organisations and training providers
• Approved professionals and assessors
• Applicants and associated parties
3. Principles of Ethical Conduct
All parties associated with BSECA are expected to uphold the following principles:
- Integrity
- Act honestly, fairly, and transparently in all professional activities.
- Objectivity
- Avoid conflicts of interest and ensure impartial decision-making.
- Professional Competence
- Maintain appropriate professional knowledge, skills, and judgement.
- Confidentiality
- Respect the confidentiality of information obtained through professional activities.
- Accountability
- Accept responsibility for actions and decisions within the approved scope.
4. Conflicts of Interest
All actual or potential conflicts of interest must be declared promptly.
Individuals and organisations must not allow personal, financial, or professional interests to compromise objectivity.
5. Professional Behaviour
All parties must:
• Comply with applicable laws and regulations
• Avoid misleading statements or representations
• Respect the reputation and integrity of BSECA
• Refrain from conduct that may bring BSECA into disrepute
6. Use of BSECA Approval and References
All references to BSECA approval must comply with:
• BSECA policies
• Logo Usage Guidelines
• Terms and Conditions
Misrepresentation of approval status is considered a serious breach of this Code.
7. Reporting Ethical Concerns
Ethical concerns, misconduct, or breaches of this Code may be reported to BSECA for review.
All reports will be handled confidentially and in accordance with internal procedures.
8. Breach of the Code
Failure to comply with this Code of Ethics may result in:
• Corrective actions
• Suspension or withdrawal of approval
• Additional governance measures
9. Commitment to Ethical Practice
By applying for or holding BSECA approval, organisations and professionals confirm their commitment to comply with this Code of Ethics
